So after idly watching the metagame while I wasn't in a position to play, I return just in time for Ravnica to rotate out, which makes me sad.

I ordered some cards for an UW control deck, trying to stay away from expensive cards that are about to rotate out. But I sooo want to pick up five mutavaults when rotation hits. Maybe a few Sphinx's Revelation and Supreme Verditcs for my EDH decks.

I'm also quietly preparing for Rotation with some cards for a Mono Red. The only rares/mythics on my lists are Cards that I will only not be playing if the new block is dramatically ridiculous.

I wish Super-Friends could be a thing again )

Grammar

Someone asked if there was really a difference between a troll and a grammar Nazi. Yes, there is, and it's an important thing to remember when someone corrects your spelling and grammar on the internet.

A troll corrects your grammar because it bothers you. A grammar Nazi corrects your grammar because it bothers them.
So we're doing an operation in ToR. A couple people die, so we decide to jump into the acid to die and reset the encounter. Except the acid doesn't kill us. And we can't exit area while the encounter is still going.

Eventually the boss jumps into the acid and then the encounter resets.

Language

So I have two big language pet peeves right now. Most things, I can forgive, as I've certainly done more than my fair share of intentional and unintentional butchering. These things below bug me for reasons I do not understand. They're like nails on a chalkboard.

1) The use of 'of' where there should be 'have'. I want to scream when I see this. Especially in a press release.

2) People, particularly voice actors and actors, saying 'your' when they should be saying 'you're'. I know they're listed as homophones of one another but I really think they shouldn't be. It sounds wrong. 'You're' is a contraction of two words and should be pronounced as such. You're makes the same vowel sounds as 'you'. Your makes the 'ore' sound. Or it should.
So...

The latest patch adds an interesting thing; everyone is put into General chat when they log in.

What does this mean? Everyone now knows there's a general chat.

However, this was incredibly stupid, because general chat is now dead because it's full of people who don't want to be in a chat channel and don't want to talk.

Also I spent like 5 minutes kiting some elites in inferno, killed the last one, walked over to a barrel, popped it, and died to the zombie that popped out of the barrel. Silly me. Lesson learned. Shoot the barrels that might hide zombies from a distance, THEN walk over to pick up the rewards.

Diablo 3

In Diablo 3, the Witch Doctor shoots BEARS at people.

I am not even kidding.

BEARS.

That makes even less sense than the jars full of spiders or the exploding frogs.

Also, This is a tale of Act 1 in Inferno.

There were three adventurers. They mowed down all the goat people and other blue and gold monsters in their sight. Then they came across some magic frogs, and died.
I am an engineering janitor. I clean up the messes that our clients have made of their diagrams and schematics.

It's more frustrating than designing web content that will work properly on IE 6
I made the move to dreamwidth at last, since most everyone jumped the unreliable ship that is livejournal while I wasn't looking.

I find myself in need of a reminder that acting confident is almost as good as being confident, but it's difficult. Which is strange, since there's no one but myself who will know the difference unless I choose to share it, but insecurity and uncertainty are not my favorite feelings.

Also, amusingly, I've been experiencing trouble at work. It can accurately be explained with 'technical problems keep messing up my plots'. Which is true, they never come out quite perfectly, but they're acceptable.

ToR goes well, and I look forward to attending the Guild Summit tomorrow.

As to what game i'll join, I'm having difficulty deciding.
